Everest Base Camp Trekking

Day 03: Rest day at Namche Bazaar: Acclimatization.
Day 04: Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3867m): Trek.
Day 05: Tengboche to Pheriche (4252m): Trek.
Day 06: Rest day at Pheriche: Acclimatization.
Day 07: Pheriche to Lobuche (4910m): Trek.
Day 08: Lobuche to EBC (5360m) to Gorakshep (5160m): Trek.
Day 09: Gorakshep to Kalapaththar (5545m) to Lobuche: Trek.
Day 10: Lobuche to Dingboche: Trek.
Day 11: Dingboche to Tengboche: Trek.
Day 12: Tengboche to Namche Bazaar: Trek.
Day 13: Namche Bazaar to Lukla: Trek.
Day 14: Lukla to Kathmandu: Fly to Kathmandu (35 minutes).

Best time to visit Everest base camp depends upon your purpose but normally October to December and March to May is the best period. Journey begins normally from the Kathmandu flight to Everest base camp airport popular as Lukla airport. It is one of the most adventurous/dangerous airport in the world at a lofty 2,800 meters (9,200 feet). Lukla airport has shortest runway surrounded with big mountains. The flight from Kathmandu to Lukla takes nearly about 45 minutes. You can get beautiful scenery from plane and you can also fly via helicopter into Lukla airport. Trekking on that area takes 7 to 20 days according to your interest. You also view fantastic views of Everest from Kala Pattar. While trekking in that area you should be aware of the yaks and you should not try to tease yaks. On the way, there are lodges which provides the basic facilities like hot water, electrical ports and may be Wi-Fi. Everest Base Camp accommodation depends on the service of your choice. Oxygen level is 50% less at Everest base camp than at sea level. You’ll need to be concerned with altitude sickness but you’ll fine if you consider few things like taking rest, moving slowly, avoid alcoholic beverages and drinking plenty of fluids to stay hydrated. If you’re not aware of altitude sickness then it might causes headaches, nausea, dizziness, vomiting etc.

Everest base camp climate:
Whether is not constant in base camp, it is always changes frequently in a day. Everest base camp average temperature is -17 degrees Celsius. The coldest during the year mostly from mid-December to January. Although it is a cold place but temperature is not same throughout the year.

  • During spring season from April to May daytime temperature is normally 15°C and night time temperature is -1°C. During this season visibility is much better as compared to other seasons and it is also the season of blossoms. You can enjoy different species of flowers.
  • Daytime temperature in monsoon season is 22°C and nighttime temperature is 4°C from June to September. During this season you might also have to pass through muddy, slippery roads.
  • In Autumn Everest base camp temperature during daytime is 17°C and nighttime temperature is -8°C. From October to November the sky becomes clear after the monsoon rain.
  • Winter season is from November to April and the temperature is as low as below 0 degrees Celsius, mainly snowy. Daytime temperature of EBC in winter is -5°C and nighttime is -15°C.

Everest base camp trek difficulty?
Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations, Everest base camp trek difficulty for a physically fit person is moderate. It is a feasible trek for most fit hill walkers. It is not as easy as walking on the streets of a busy city as you’ll find rocky and hilly area but you’ll have guides, porters who will be there to make your journey easier.

Can I see Mount Everest top view from Everest base camp?
Mount Everesttop view cannot be seen from the Everest Base Camp but other mountains such as Kala Patthar, Lobuche, Khumbutse, Pumori, Changtse and Lingtren can bee seen from Everest base camp.
