The Father of Prithvi Narayan Shah is Nara Bhupal Shah. He was born in 1697 in Gorkha. He was the king of the Gorkha Kingdom. Nara Bhupal Shah’s father’s name is Birbhadra Shah and his mother is Malikavati Devi. His grandfather is Prithvipati Shah.
He was married to Chandraprabhawati Devi (princess of Khaachi state) and Kaushalyavati Devi (princess of Palpa). He was the king of the Gorkha Kingdom before the unification of Nepal and he tried to extend his kingdom by capturing Nuwakot, but he failed. After his death, Prithvi Narayan Shah became the king of Gorkha as he was the eldest son. He died on April 3, 1743.
Prithvi Narayan Shah’s mother’s name is Kaushalyavati Devi. She is the daughter of Gundharva Sen, the King of Palpa. She was married to Nara Bhupal Shah. She gave birth to King Prithvi Narayan Shah on 27th Poush, 1779 B.S. She gave birth on Thursday.
About Palpa – The Palpa kingdom was ruled by the Sen Dynasty before the unification of Nepal. Tansen was the capital of Palpa and the name “Tansen” has its origins in the Magar language, meaning “northern settlement. Palpa was one of the most powerful kingdoms before the rise of the Shah dynasty. Prithivipal Sen was the last king of Palpa. After unification, Palpa became a part of Nepal and Tansen became the administrative city for the area.
